Wednesday begins the annual World Econonic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. With the global credit crunch continuing to worsen, this year's meeting is of utmost importance. In 2008, Mexico hosted the World Economic Foreign in Latin America in Cancun. This year the government's senior people will be in Davos, including:
- Agustin Carstens, Secretary of Finance
- Felipe Calderon, President
- Georgina Kessel, Secretary of Energy
- Guillermo Ortiz, Governor of the Central Bank
- Luis Téllez Kuenzler, Secretary of Communications and Transport
- Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, Secretary of Foreign Relations

Wow… Does Mexico really need to have that many people there? It costs about $40k just to be there, plus travel expenses. I’m sure tax payers would be thrilled to know that.
That is really pricey, but I suppose if each person closes a business deal worth more than that then it may pay for itself. Additionally, the dialogue and contacts must be unparalleled. Nevertheless, the event is definitely for *the* elite.
